PriceScout tracks App Store prices and alerts you about deals. We designed it to collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no sign-up, and no advertising or tracking.
Your device sends an anonymous device identifier and watchlist app IDs when the app opens or your watchlist changes. If a push token is available, it is sent with your storefront and locale to register alerts. In detail, we process:
Without enabling notifications, the app still sends its anonymous device identifier and watchlist app IDs to our registry and requests price data. Search and watchlist prices use Apple's public iTunes APIs. Today's deals and price history are loaded from our hosted feeds.
Solely to operate price monitoring and push alerts. We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for tracking across apps or websites.
Your registration is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure and on our own server. To deliver a notification we pass your push token and the alert content (app name, app ID, and prices) to Apple’s Push Notification service (APNs). We also keep a record of alerts already sent (your device identifier together with the app and deal concerned) so you are not notified twice about the same deal, and we record when your registration was last updated. Internal diagnostic output may include a truncated form of your device identifier.
PriceScout Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes your payment; we never see your payment details.
We keep your alert registration until it is deleted. Deleting the app does not by itself notify our servers or guarantee removal of your server-side alert registration. If you would like your device's registration deleted, email us at any time and we will delete it.
